The Superintendent of Amherst-Pelham Regional Public Schools invites highly-qualified candidates to apply for the position of Principal of Amherst-Pelham Regional High School.

The Amherst Regional Public Schools (ARPS) are located in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. The area is rich in cultural, recreational and academic activities and opportunities. Amherst is a college community with a population of 34,874 located in the Connecticut River Valley 87 miles west of Boston and 23 miles north of Springfield. The school system educates a diverse population of approximately 2,790 students. Three elementary schools are located in the town of Amherst and one in the town of Pelham. The middle school and high school are located in the town of Amherst and draw students from the towns of Amherst and Pelham, as well as Leverett and Shutesbury.

The Amherst-Pelham Regional Public Schools seeks a principal to lead the Amherst-Pelham Regional High School. Amherst Regional High School is a four-year comprehensive regional school serving the towns of Amherst, Pelham, Leverett, and Shutesbury. ARHS is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Grade 9-12 enrollment is 952 with a senior class of 229. The student body is culturally diverse with a population that includes 58% Caucasian, 7% African-American, 9% Asian, 15% Hispanic, 11% Multi-Racial, and includes native speakers of 29 languages. According to Niche.com, Amherst-Pelham Regional School District was ranked #1 the Best Place to Teach in Massachusetts, #1 Best School District in Springfield, Massachusetts area, and #9 Best School District in Massachusetts.

The high school principal will be responsible for the instructional program, professional and support staff evaluations, budget development and implementation, as well as maintaining a visible presence with students, parents, and the broader community. The new principal will lead, support, and model a culture in which all staff are reflective about their practice and use data, current research, and best practices to continuously adapt instruction to meet the needs of all learners. He/she will work collaboratively with a diverse community of stakeholders to ensure viable and culturally competent curriculum and instruction.

The successful candidate should possess strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Classroom experience is desirable, and at least three years of experience as a school administrator is preferred. A valid Massachusetts license as a Grades 9-12 Principal and a master's degree in Education or related field are required.

Amherst-Pelham Regional School District offers a regionally competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin on February 18, 2019. The expected start date for the new Principal is July 1, 2019.
